I searched the forum but didnt find what I think is my issue...

Tivo Series 2 unit.

Recently, when watching certain recorded shows there will be a high pitched squeal noise immediately when starting playback. The squeal noise will also change pitch based on the audio of the program I am watching. Meaning the noise will kind of go along with the audio of the program if that makes sense. I have never heard the noise when switching to live tv. The problem is random and sometimes lasts an entire episode (recording) and sometimes only a few minutes. The problem has happened with recordings across multiple networks. I only noticed this issue after the recent tivo software update. It almost seems like a bad audio cable but why would I then never have the issue when watching live tv out of the same audio cables?

Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem. Just started a week ago? Did you get a solution to your problem?

I have a Series 2 DVD player and get a high freq noise on playback of recorded shows; all channels. But not when watch live shows either from the TV of thru the TiVo?

Saw a earlier posting that said to try rebooting by unplugging and plugging it in again. Tried this and it seems to have worked.
