OK, I just activated the HR10-250 that I bought on e-bay. I bought it because I wanted to experience the DLB everyone is making such a big deal about not having on the HR20. I have two HR20's by the way.

OK, my question is: when you change channels the buffers should switch to the current channel and last channel watched, right? I seem to have a problem in that the live buffer starts on the new channel, but the old buffer gets stuck on a channel previously watched, not the last one. Does that make sense? Is there a way to unstick the stuck buffer? Maybe I don't understand the feature well enough yet.

OK, I've been playing around with it. It seems to have unstuck. Is it a matter of time you need to leave it on the new channel before the old buffer moves to the last channel?

Not sure I quite understand, but let me give it a try.

You have 2 live buffers: let's say buffer #1 is on ABC & buffer #2 is on CBS

You change the channel on buffer #1 to NBC - buffer 2 continues to buffer CBS, but is not stuck it should be in real time. Of course ABC is now toast because NBC is now being buffered on #1.

If you are buffering on one channel, just hit the "Live TV" button to change to the other tuner and then change to the second channel that you want to buffer. Then you can just keep hitting the Live TV button to toggle between the 2 buffers.

There's 2 buffers, for the unit's dual tuner.

Say you're surfing channels on one tuner. The other tuner is sitting on it's channel, continually filling the buffer. The buffer on the tuner you are surfing with gets reset each time you change the channel. You can switch from one tuner to another by pressing the LiveTV button when you're already watching LiveTV.

I have seen one instance where the unit will switch you from one tuner to the other, automatically. Lets say you're surfing from channel 4, through 100, and for simplicity sake, lets say you get something on every channel. You start at 4, going up, on tuner A. Tuner B is sitting on channel 23, just sitting there recording it's live TV buffer. Each time you press channel up, Tuner A flushes it's buffer and starts over on the next higher channel, until you hit channel 22. When you're at channel 22, and you hit channel up, instead of flushing the buffer and changing the channel, the unit switches you to the other tuner/buffer which is already on channel 23. Now, you're on Tuner B, surfing right on up the channels, while tuner A stays on channel 22, filling it's buffer.

In a nutshell, what you have here is the simple fact that under most circumstances, there's no logical reason for your dual tunered unit to tune both tuners to the same channel. Make sense?

To prevent accidentally dumping one of the buffers, use the down arrow to change tuners.
