I have a tivo in my livingroom, and one in my bedroom. I have a single LNB dish. I want to add a 2nd tivo to my livingroom. How should I do the wiring?
Since you have two TiVos now (and this is the DirecTV TiVo forum, I'm assuming that both are DirecTV TiVos), how are they wired? Do you have two lines running to each one?
How many cables are running from your dish? Your LNB may actually be a dual output LNB in one housing.
Actually, I'm looking at Ebay now... and I guess I do have a dual LNB dish. It has 4 cables coming from the dish itself. I guess I should maybe take a picture of it and post it here.
So, I might just need the multiswitch and run 2 additional lines then.
I'm sorry for asking what might be dumb questions, and for going in circles. I just don't understand it well enough and I'm trying to figure it out.
Since there are four cables coming from the dish there is probably a 2x4 multiswitch connected to the back of it. If this is the case, you can just get another 2x4 switch and connect two lines from the first one to it and then use the four outputs for additional TiVos.
I'm still a little confused, because your other thread mentioned a triple LNB dish (which has a built in four output multiswitch). Knowing exactly what you have will help us figure out what you need to do to add the third TiVo.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could
be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
