Quick question to all of the 605 owners out there: How do you get Dolby Digital via HDMI? I have the S3 set to Dolby Dig ital and the 605 set to direct with the Cable/Sat input set to HDMI input 1. I get sound, just no DD. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We had the same problem. Instead of HDMI we're using the optical out from TiVo to our receiver and HDMI from TiVo directly to our LCD TV. Problem solved. :up:

I guess that doesn't answer your question directly...but it works!

Yeah, right now, I have the HDMI into the 605 as well as an old optical cable. If i keep this set up, I'd need to get a new optical cable and I'm trying to avoid it. Plus, I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong, just for my own piece of mind.

Can the tivo do HDMI 1.3a and can the onkyo 605 accept that? I'd bet that one or the other can't, and that's why the digital audio isn't getting passed through.

I know that the 605 is HDMI 1.3(a?) but i don't know about tivo. My understanding was that HDMI 1.3 was backwards compatible. However, that may not be the case. I've read a bunch of threads dealing with the subject and am still confused.
