I have an Tivo S3 in one room, and will be running HDMI cable thru the floor and basement to two other locations in the house. OK so far.
In a previous house, I used a IR receiver and repeater with a additional wire back from each location to route remote signals back to the Tivo and audio receiver. The components were in an open cabinet, so this setup also worked fine in the orignal room (since the signals originating in the other rooms would be repeated thru the IR blaster, and the signals originating in the primary room would go directly to the components involved)
I'm thinking it would be simplier to use a RF remote (like the 'Next Generation' battery-based RF transmitter) with the IR blaster next to the components.
The components are still in an open cabinet, so wouldn't this configuraiton lead to repeated signals, the direct to component IR signal being also sent RF, converted, and re-blasted.
So -
Is this a good idea in the first place, and if so, how do I avoid the double signals in the primary room.
