Help with adding show information to avi file

Hello,
I am new to this forum and am looking for help.

About 6 months ago I received my TiVo Premiers and have been struggling with being able to add file neatly to my TiVo. I am able to add the .avi file using TiVo Desktop Plus (no problem there). The problem that I am having is getting the files to have show information. So instead of having 10 files (i.e. Archer S01E01 to Archer S01E10) it would be a folder in the now playing list, Archer then you go into it and then there are 10 files listed S01E01 to S01E10, like there is when you record and you have group files. The closet I have come is being told by TiVo that there is 3rd party software to encode the files but they have to be with TiVo file extension. Can anyone help with a simple solution? I have used abcAVI Tag Editor by the last update was in 2005 and when I add information to it doesn’t show up on the file once it is transfer to the TiVo.

Thank You in advance for any help or advice.

Desktop Plus will transfer some AVI files and editing the tags may help a bit, but it won't "folderize" them. To do that you would have to push them using pyTiVo and custom metadata files.

If you want to go to the effort of converting them to MPEG-2 files first it's possible to add TiVo metadata to them, but it's not a method that has been pursued very far. See http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=446048 for more info if you really like a challenge.
