Help! Upgrade gone bad!

I just bought a Sony svr-2000 series 1 tivo recently with lifetime subscription and wanted to add on a 160 gb hard drive. I was following the Hinsdale guide with no success and now when i plug the original hard drive in alone it goes through the loading and then says "just a few more seconds" and then it goes to the screen that says "hit the power button to turn on" and then the screen goes black. I hooked the drive back up to my pc and it is working, but only showing 10mb, but thats what it was showing the whole time when i was doing it. I dont know what to do. Help me please.

The drive needs to unlocked using either qunlock or diskutil utilities (latter is better) before making a backup if that is what you want to do. Most TiVo gurus do not recommend using two drives for a number of reasons - the main one being the difficultly in diagnosing problems when they crop up. I suggest you just use the 160GB drive and restore it from a backup made from the original drive. Hopefully you are using the PTV version of Mfstools. After the restore run the following commands:

mountcd
copykern
<follow the 6 steps this module will lead you through>

then umount and turn off

Umm,, how about hitting the power button? I have the same unit and thats pretty normal behavior.

Yeah, when i hit the power button it doesnt do anything and then two seconds later it goes black.

funtoupgrade, thanks first off, ill do that... But im now wondering if it has been locked this whole time, then (by my thinking) i couldn't have written to the disk and it should be the same as it was when i first got it. Is that correct? If so why doesn't the tivo recognize it now?
Isn't there a log that keeps track of which buttons are being pressed on the remote? Why not check it to see if the power button signal is getting received.

Also does the power LED turn yellow when you press keys?
