I have a Pioneed DVR-810H that has always worked perfectly. Today, I put it through setup to change the input setting for my new cable box. Setup ran perfectly, it dialed in and downloaded all channel data, everything was fine. The unit was working perfectly.

I left the house and returned a couple hours later and splash screen "Welcome. Powering up..." was on. The unit is hung on this splash screen and will not boot up. I've powered it off and on a couple of times, but it still hangs on the splash screen.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this or how to somehow reset the unit?

Thank you

Did you have a power outage? Is your TiVo on a UPS?

It sounds like your Pioneer TiVo has a bad hard drive. Look in the upgrade forum for more info on how to fix it. You can either get a new preloaded hard drive, or get a new blank hard drive and get Instant Cake from dvrupgrade.com.

Good luck,

Thanks for the reply. (No power outage)

After reading about many similar problems on these boards, I'm resigned to the fact that a new HD is needed. I've ordered a pre-loaded one and am hoping for an easy install to be back up and running.

Thanks again for your help.
