Okay....

#1 - I got a Tivo Wireless Adapter and my laptop has a wireless card. I bought a Netgear network router that attaches to my USB port, but I'll be darned if I can make it work. Somehow I'm getting a wireless signal for the Tivo to connect to everyday, I don't think it's from my router, must be some nice neighbor boosting me along. Now does that have any bearing on this...

#2 - I downloaded the Tivo Desktop, but the screen is empty. I connect to Tivo everyday but the programs in my Now Viewing list don't transfer over. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to change a setting on my Tivo or inside the desktop? I have several programs that I want to save on my puter for watching when I am out and and about. Suggestions on how to make this happen.

First you computer and TiVo must be on the same LAN (Local Area Network) meaning they both must be connecting to the internet using the same router. So the first thing you need to do is to make sure your TiVo is connecting using your netgear wireless router. Some of what you said doesn't make complete sense to me so why don't you start with listing how everything is connected together please be as specific as possible and include model numbers.

Something's not right there. A router should connect to your cable or DSL modem via a network cable, not a USB port. What model Netgear is it? Most routers come with a quick start guide and setup CD ... did you use those?

I agree with atmuscarella that your TiVo is probably hitchhiking on another open wireless network which is why you can't see it through TiVo Desktop on your PC. I assume your PC is able to connect to the internet? More details would be helpful.

A router should connect to your cable or DSL modem via a network cable, not a USB port.

Some routers have a USB port that can be used to connect the router to a PC (instead of using a normal Ethernet connection) one of my 3 routers has this feature. But as we have both said we need more info.
