I have two units and one has died. I was sent the generic DVR from directv and it is so AWFUL, I can't begin to describe. I must have a direct tivo unit. Does anyone know where I can get one???? I wish everyone from Directv would stop their service until they got the tivo's back!!!

Find one on EBay, other online Auction Sites, in Yard Sales, Craiglist...etc etc. Hell you can even find them in Retail Stores from time to time: CC and Bestbuys are Two.

Turning off your Service until Directv get Directv/Tivo's back is a waste of time. No matter what anyone does, the choice and decisions are from Directv and Tivo, not just Directv's.

So we all may as well turn off both Directv and Tivo. You really think that would work?

And most likely nothing wrong with the unit other than a bad hard drive. IDE hard drives are dirt cheap and there is software available to reimage the Tivo software on the new drive. Heck, you can even buy preimaged drives you simply swap for the failed drive.

Bought another one on EBay and hope to have this one repaired for a spare. It has power, you can hear the fan running just no lights on it....I swear I would never watch TV again if I have to use Directv's DVR. Thanks for all your replys....

If the Power is on, and the fans running but NO Lights this could be a Data Cable and not the Power Supply or HD.

There should be a White Small Data Cable inside the unit. This possible needs replaced or even just taking it out and re-setting it sometimes works.
