HELP!! Multi-switch problem!?

I am not sure where to post this question, as I don't frequent this site often. I will appreciate any help on this matter!

I have an 18 inch oval Directv satellite dish with dual line. It has two lines that run to my multi-switch. From my multi-switch I have dual lines running to two tivo's and to one Directv DVR. The system was working fine, but then I had to take my dish down so that our roof could be redone after a hail storm. (The hail did not damage my dish and everything worked fine for weeks after the storm). After re-installing my dish back on my roof I hooked everything up just as it was before. My signals are currently very high and work great if I connected directly to a receiver. My problem is when I connected my cables to my powered WNC 4 X 8 Multi-switch (Model no. SWA-48) I could not get a signal on the even transponders. I then hooked the cables up to my older non-powered Digital 4 Way Multi-switch which allows me to connect to only 2 receivers rather than 3. Everything worked great for the day and then it lost all the signals that night. The next morning it suddenly worked again, but then lost the signals again that evening as well. Since this multi-switch is not powered, I wonder if maybe there is not enough energy to keep this connection going as the cables coming into my home are probably about 30 or 40 feet. Anyway, I am now confused and have no idea what my problem is with the two multi-switches I own. How could they both go bad in one day? Any info will help greatly! I am now connected directly to one receiver, and would really like to have all 3 of my receivers connected and working.

My guess is that there is a cable problem. Check all connectors for corrosion. The loss of even TPs is a symptom of the switching signal getting partially shorted. FYI, 13v is used for the odd TPs and 18v is for the even ones. So, if the 18v gets reduced, you lose the even TPs.

The 30 to 40 foot cable lengths aren't a problem.

Thanks for your help Jim! I did discover that one of my cables was the problem. I replaced it and everything is working great again!
