Please help me save my marriage.

I have a Tivo Bolt Model TCD849500 and Tivo Mini Model TCDA93000 on Spectrum Cable with a Cisco Tuning Adapter Model STA1520.

My wife is ready to divorce me if I don’t get this figured out soon.

Ever since the firmware was updated years ago, and many things were added, our Tivo is unusable.

All we do is record and watch shows. We don’t use apps, we don’t stream, we don’t watch on-demand.

I understand you can revert back to the original firmware, but if you do you loose all your old recordings so that is not an option.

Tivo removed local Commercials that played before playing a recording and that didn’t help much.

* Some of the problems are:

* Bolt reboots many times a day and is worse if both the Bolt and Mini are in use at the same time.

* Says live TV is unavailable because all 4 tuners are in use which is odd because nothing is recording and Mini is in standby.

* Lots of shows don’t record because Recording Activity says “Loss of Power” which is odd because
we were watching TV on the Mini at the same time the show should have been recorded.

* If I hit the pause button on a live show and come back 5-25 minutes later the time bar is whacked out.
When I hit play it jumps to the current time. If I try and go back a portion of the 30 minute pause recording it jumps all the way to the beginning. It does this over and over again.

*And we encounter a million channel tuning access problems.

I’ve tried many of the suggestions in the Form and nothing has helped so far. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

The two most common problems are the power supply and the hard drive.

Cheapest and easiest option is to try to replace the power brick that it came with - it's a cheaply made unit which if more than a few years old will probably be producing bad power causing all sorts of issues.

You will want to pick up a power brick of equal voltage and equal or greater current rating and give that a try.

It could be the hard drive, but that requires work, changing the power supply is trivially easy to do and may resolve the problem.

Thanks Worf.

I haven't replaced the power supply yet and will give that a try.

I see it's a 12 vdc @ 3 amps center pin positive. I have one with the same rating laying around but the power pack is only half the size of the original.

Wondering if it would have the same quality voltage regulation, filtering and noise suppression as the original.

Anybody have suggestion on a pwr supply that works well and is available on Amazon?

Thanks JandS.

I must be blind. I read your old thread suggestion 3 times an didn't see anybody talking about the TiVo Bolt main power pack.

Replacing Noisy Bolt Fan & Power

What I saw was a lot of info on replacement fans and power supplies for fan power.

Tried the power pack I had laying around and it has a smaller diameter female power plug, so can't try it out.
