I have a Hughes DirecTV/TiVo Series 2 receiver. I expanded the recording capacity a couple of years ago with a kit from Weaknees. In recent months I have been getting weak to no signal on satellite input 2, which I assumed was because of trees impeding on my dish's southern view, but I'm not 100% sure of that. In the last few weeks my receiver has been occasionally rebooting itself. I also noticed a few weeks ago that I went through a few days where my keyword searches were showing no results at all when they should have been showing something. Now last night my receiver rebooted itself and then froze. Today it was still frozen, so I unplugged it, waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. Since then it reboots, shows a few seconds to a few minutes of TV and then reboots again. It seems to reboot about three consecutive times before it freezes, I unplug it and replug it and then the cycle starts over again. I have been able to get in to my now playing list and start playing one of my saved programs for a few seconds before the reboot starts. I was also able to get in to my system information and it says it is running software version 6.3e.
DirecTV's technical service person was useless. Can anyone here tell me what is wrong and what to do about it? Thank you in advance and I apologize for my ignorance. I just didn't know where else to turn. I have programs on that hard drive that are very important to me and I don't want to lose them.
