Years ago I had TiVO but had to drop it when I switched to satellite. I am not considering cutting the cord and I have no idea what I need.

It is unlikely I will have suitable over the air service, so I will largely be streaming. I currently have four TVs and ideally would like to have service on all four.

Is a Bolt what I need? Then do I have to have a mini for every other TV?

We currently watch network, HGTV, Starz, HBO, Showtime and a little of Hulu, but may drop that one.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

why not just sign up for Hulu live or YouTube TV..both offer locals and DVRs.

A Bolt or any sort of Tivo won't record or show any channels whatsoever if you cut the cord and have no over the air service. You would be paying a lot of money for a glorified streaming device with a handful of very bad streaming apps.

As a cord cutter you only need some sort of streaming device like Roku, Fire stick or Apple TV and a streaming service that carries the channels/programs you watch.

The last 4 (HBO, Starz, Showtime and Hulu) you can subscribe to directly with a cheap streaming box or built in streaming on your tv.

NO cheap way to get Network tv and HGTV currently. MIght as well just get YTTV for now if you want those channels and can't do OTA.

@jonhhunt as others have said, a Bolt is not a good choice if you're not on OTA or cable. It is not very good at streaming. Devices from Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, etc. are much better.

With Hulu Live TV you can get local/network and also add HBO, Starz, and Showtime. Last time I checked YouTube TV did not offer HBO.

don't matter anyway. you can get it direct. i mean i have YTTV and just got Showtime direct and not thru YTTV even though I believe I could have. For one it was cheaper because I went through iTunes. I am stocked up on 20% off itunes credit. Two I don't need to record on Showtime because it's on-demand. I don't need a tv guide for it either for the same reason.

The good part is all of the streamers have free trial periods so you can give them a whirl to decide which fits you best. In the case of YouTubeTV I think they have a 2-week trial offering now. The usual for most of them is a week.

eventually, in the next year, you will able to get HGTV content on a Discovery streaming service and get NBC on a Peacock service and right now you can get CBS on CBS All Access.

Hulu has Fox and ABC shows on it I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe NBC shows still too. But not the local news and sports and stuff.
