I am considering adding one of the new cheeper HD tivo's and hope someone will take the time for a few answers.

I currently have a lifetime and a second series 2. So I only am paying 6.99 a month for the second tivo. If I add a HD tivo, will that also be just another 6.99 a month (as long as my lifetime lasts) or do they charge more for HD?

I have a Comcast DVR (HD) that I have added a 500gb SATA HD plugged into the back. Is the new HD tivo upgradable via the typical series 2 HD upgrade and/or can I just plug in a HD into the back?

I've seen talk of the cable cards for the HD tivo's, is this an option for the new HD tivo's and does anyone know what Comcast charges for a cablecard per month?

Thanks for the help...

If you add a Tivo HD to your account, it can be $6.95 if you select 3 year contract. If you don't want to keep the S2 active, you can simply transfer that service to the Tivo HD.

You can easily upgrade the internal hard drive (look for WinMFS). You can also enable the use of an external hard drive (WinMFS) by youself (Tivo hasn't enabled eSATA support yet)

For CableCARDs, if you have a digital package (and no other digital converter box), the first card is free, the second is $1.50 (or so). With the THD, you will only need one if you can get an MCard.

I guess you could say they have enabled eSATA support (as of current software release) but not plug'n'play or kickstart drive recognition on the TiVo HD. Since you mentioned WinMFS and external hard drive use that is probably what you were thinking anyway.
