Ok, tried to search the forums, didn't see anyone else with the same problem.....

I have two HD Tivo boxes hooked up to one Sanyo HDTV set. One of the boxes are running on HMDI and the other is Component. TV only has one HDMI jack. Doesn't matter what box I have the HDMI hooked up to I get a loud popping electricity sound when I change the channel or pause the show. Doesn't happen with component cables.

I know my TV's HDMI port and the HDMI cable are good. Tried it with another HDMI cd player with no problems.

Any idea what the problem may be?

Thank you so much!

I have an original series 3 and used to have a similar problem when it switched between 5.1 and regular sound on my receiver hooked up with optical cable. They eventually fixed it with a service update. I know TivoHD was built off an older version than the Series3 and will eventually merge back into the same version so it's probably only fixed on the S3 line.

OMG....that worked. Thank you so much. Never knew what that PCM meant.

You are a life saver!
When you connect the Tivo to a display via HDMI, the both are supposed to communicate so that the Tivo knows that your TV needs a PCM signal (as most do). The reason you were hearing those pops is because your display and Tivo weren't communicating properly so the Tivo didn't always know that your TV required PCM, so it sent the DD5.1 you had selected by default in Audio Settings. Your TV couldn't handle that DD5.1 signal.
