Hello all,
Figured I’d fire up my old THD to make sure it still runs, etc. Since my last move I’m now in Comcast land - all MPEG4. It’s updated to the latest 11.0n.k1 so it should work fine - but it doesn’t.
The tuners seem to have gone to pot - on a line where my usual Premiere 4 can maintain a solid 80-95 signal strength, the S3 seems to struggle around 40. No problem, I stuck an old amp on the line (1ghz, 15db) and that boosted the SNR and the signal strength, so the S3 could get a lock.
However, I still get a black screen on all the channels - 37db SNR, 100pct signal, 0 errors, and signal/program locks OK. Video PID changes, but always has (Unknown) next to it.
Through all of this, I can play back transfers from my Bolt in the frontroom - same system, same video encoding.
is my old HD just losing it’s marbles? The disk was replaced about six months ago before I moved. Power supply was recapped by the last owner.
