I enjoyed the book. I’ll add this to my watch list for the next time I subscribe to HBO to catch up on things.
It'd a sequel of sorts to the Mr. Mercedes/Bill Hodges trilogy. Audience did a good job on adapting the first three books, I only wish they'd gotten this one as well. If I had HBO I'd watch it. But alas, I'm going to have to wait till HBO has another free weekend on DTV and binge it then.I'm a big Stephen King fan. This is a 10 part series starting tonight on HBO. It looks like it may be like "True Detective" with a supernatural part to it.
Anyone else going to watch this?
I saw the first episode right before bed last night and loved it. I didn't now there was a second one released today or I would have watch it last night too. I have been a fan of Jason Bateman since he was a kid. I agree he is doing an outstanding job.Watched the first two episodes. Bateman is directing as well as starring and he's killing it on both. SK has always been my favorite author since I stole my older sister's book, Salem's Lot, when I was a kid. I usually am not much of a fan of TV/Movie adaptions of his work but so far, this is spot on.
Well the original story is written by Stephen King and so far the show adaptations aren't drawing outside the lines so I'd say if you enjoy how SK ends his stories, you're all good.Just read that this is written by the same person who wrote The Night Of. A series I loved but ultimately let me down in the end. I could see this happening here as it is not a "normal" crime drama.
Agree.I'm not a huge SK fan, but I've liked some of the movie adaptions. I didn't record this but it sounds like something I might like, so I'll probably go back and record the first two. Might save it for a binge though, depending on time and all that good stuff.
My thoughts exactly when I finished the first two! I really love Jason Bateman. His directing and acting are top notch........ reminds me I need to catch up on Ozark!Just finished the second episode and all I can say is WOW. I'm really enjoying this, even better than true detective.
I clap for you Jason Bateman. <Clap> <Clap> More!
Shawshank is actually a rather short novella. But this is one of the rare movies that is better than the book. For example, as far as I remember, the book didn't have the opera playing over the loudspeaker (love Red's line "to this day I don't know what those 2 Italian ladies were singing about, and I don't want to know"); also, I don't think the released con hanging himself was in the book.Agree.
Green Mile, Shawshank, The Shining, and Stand By Me are 3 very good adaptations. Shawshank being my one of my all time favorite movies.
Those books were also all normal length very good books. Then he got so popular no editor can tighten up his writing and he tends to go on and on.
