HBO Renews Enlightened - Cancels Hung, Bored to Death, How to Make It In America

I guess I'm not surprised by Hung or Bored to Death but I really did enjoy both shows.

I am disappointed they canceled Hung. It wasn't the best show on TV but it was entertaining. I did find the season finale to be very lackluster. I wish it could have stuck around one more season and got a real ending.

They should have used Lenore more. She was a fantastic character.

The Hung finale sure seemed like a series finale, so I was not surprised. A little surprised about Bored To Death, one of my favorites. Oh well, two more SPs I can clear off to make room for the January stuff

I tried a couple episodes of Hung and Bored to Death. Didn't care for either.

I've never even heard of the other two shows. I usually give about any HBO show a chance. I need to look into them.

This show gets no love here, but I like it too. I'm not sure if I would watch if it was an hour, but in small doses I enjoy it. Glad to see it's coming back.

My usual luck. A network cancels the three shows I enjoy and keeps the one I dislike.

Bored to Death surprises me the most of the cancels. I thought it had good ratings to go with excellent reviews.

I'll miss Hung, but then again I've missed it most of the last few years and had to catch up on it by buying the Blu-rays of it.

I tried Hung and Bored for their initial seasons and just didn't fit for me. Never watched How to Make It, but have all the Enlightened so far on DVR and plan a run on them all in a row.

Having Thing 4 (9yo) makes it tough to watch many HBO shows during non bedtime hours and I am so old that by the time it is bedtime for Thing 4 it is bedtime for me too.

Well as someone who watched and liked both shows, I can pretty much tell you where they went wrong on both of them. (IMO of course)

Hung, it stopped being about the pimping as much as the drama with the other ho and his girlfriend. Neither of which was very appealing as characters. Then add in his ex-wife's change in life and her drama that half the time left the main characters (Ray, Tonya) off the screen too long.

Bored to Death, they stopped showing him being a PI and made it all about his quest to find daddy. Did he even have any actual cases outside the first episode that left him hanging from the clock?? Oh and they cut his hair. Shouldn't matter but for some reason it made him far less charming. Then as much as I love Zach, they totally ruined his character. We watched all last season while he tried to get back the woman he loves just for him to cheat on her at the beginning of this season?? Really? The only character they got right this season was Ted Danson. He was just on fire with the whole restaurant SL and his daughter's old husband to be. Loved that.

I enjoyed Hung and I'm sorry to see it go, but you have to figure HBO execs were looking down the road and saying that the show's premise had run its course. There wasn't much left to explore except how Ray's wife was going to fit into the show. Maybe she would have become another employee at Tanya's center for orgasmic living and the business would have gotten shut down by the cops. We'll never know.

Loved the show's theme song and the hot naked chicks, though! :up:

I, too, have enjoyed Hung. It has gotten kind of weird but I was hoping they would reel it back in this next season. Not so much, I guess.

I just got into Bored To Death this season, so was hoping to see more.

Love Ted Danson and I thought it was a pretty decent show.

As for Enlightened - I'm not sure what to think about this show. My problem is that I find the main character, played by Dern, to be so profoundly irritating that I want to kill her right through my tv screen. She's not only irritating, but she's just icky. Otherwise, I could see promise and always liked Ladd (although I would like to see her with a different wig...that one always looked to me like it was going to jump off her head and scurry across the floor).

That's exactly where I think they were going with the story. Her character has always bothered me because she was always on the outside of the main story. I might have enjoyed her more if they included her in the prostitution ring.

I was kinda bored with Hung. Too much of it centered around the continual conflict with Lenore. They should have wrapper her up a long time ago and moved on.

I enjoyed How To Make It, so I'll miss it. It's seasons were too short. It always felt that as soon as it started airing, it was gone again.

Didn't watch the other.

I liked Bored to Death, but somehow I missed the start of this last season--actually my DVR recorded the first couple of episodes, but they were in Spanish and then I just didn't bother to remedy the situation. With a show like that it is hard to even remember where the story left off last season, a year ago.
