A while back I bought a Slingbox 500. Since it has several inputs, when I first put it in service, I configured it as follows:

SOURCE

Composite: Unconfigured

Component: AT&T DirecTV Now Streaming Player

HDMI: TiVo Mini

I recall that when I first put it in service, was slightly surprised that their wasn't some sort of HDCP issue when I ran the HDMI cables from the TiVo Mini to the Slingbox 500, but all worked well.

More recently, however, I have been getting the message "HDMI connection not permitted. Press SELECT for more information."

Is there, or was there, some sort of firmware change that is causing this?

For me, all the over the air channels work fine as they are not protected with HDCP. Can you identify whether the channels you are trying to view are broadcast or cable only? One way around this is to have a two way HDMI splitter with one side going to a TV and the other to your SlingBox. The TV sends the OK back to the TiVo for protected content. But the TV has to be turned on I believe.
