Just aquired a used harmony remote. I was told it wouldn't hold a charge. Anyone have any suggestions on what to try to get it working? Is it generally the actual battery or the charger itself?

Thanks

I've had this remote for over 2 years now. I've not had an issue with it holding the charge, but have experienced (and have read that others have as well) difficulty getting the contacts to line up properly over time. It hasn't gotten irritating enough for me to clean them yet, but that's my next step.

I'll try the book idea to see if that helps.

It comes on for a second and says Testing....
Then it goes to the display screen and flashes a message about the battery but it's so fast I can't read it.

Any other ideas? waht are the chances logitech will replace it? I guess I can call them but I am not the original owner so I don't know if that matters.

I heard they were replacing defective cradles a while ago.
Not sure if they still are.

Mine's not bad enough to deal with yet.

Call Logitech. It is 1 of 2 issues. The first issue may be with the cradle itself. The second is with how the battery sits in the remote. The battery is actually a tad bit small to make proper contact when placed in the remote. I called Logitech and they knew exactly what I was talking about and sent me a battery spacer that just sticks to the bottom of the battery. Problem solved. I had to complain (my remote was 2 days old) and get bumped to a higher level tech before they acknowledged the problem, so be prepared to wait on hold a while.
