What software tools are you planning to use? MFSTools, InstantCake and other popular tools don't require any special hard drive prep because they automatically take care of formating the drive with Tivo's format.

I'm replacing a hard drive, how should it be partitioned and formatted, Fat32 or will the restore function automatically setup the partitions and formatting?
