Our TiVo had been making progressively more and more noise (like a loud whine), which we thought was the fan, since it had done something similar a couple of years ago and it stopped once we replaced the fan. I ordered replacement fans from Weaknees last night. Then when I got up this morning, it was making a horrendous grinding noise and the green light wouldn't go on. Blank screen also. Is this a hard drive problem? a fan/overheating problem? Both?? Should I try plugging it in again?

Any advice would be most appreciated--every time I've stopped in these forums everyone has been super helpful, so thank you in advance!

A grinding noise would indicate some mechanical problem. The only moving parts are the fans and the hard drive. Check to see if the fans are working. If so....

Thanks for the response--I'll crack the thing open tonight and figure out if it's the fans or not.
