My upgraded drive failed after 4 years so I put the original drive in, but the original drive could not load the data after connecting to tivo, instead it would reboot every time.

My original drive showed it was healthy with diagnostic software. I received a new image from ggieseke and restored that image to my original drive and it was able to load the data from Tivo.

Is it possible to have a version of the Tivo software that is too old to apply the latest update from Tivo?

It can take a lot of fiddling around to get it to upgrade to the latest software without completing Guided Setup. Some people have posted that they just let it sit for several days and it updated on its own.

My 746 image is running 20.7.4 thanks to another member, but most of my other images are from original factory drives running 14.5. Lots of changes since then.

I have a TCD758250 image from you dated 2013.
Is there a more current copy?

Thanks for your time.
Cheers!

When the original drive wouldn't update I ran clear and delete everything and restarted guided setup. Reran guided setup several times and every time it got to loading information it would reboot. Tried kickstart 56 to force an update several times too. As soon as I restored your image to the original drive. Guided setup recognized the first download was an update the first time and was able to complete guided setup.

I copied the original drive over to a Western Digital "White Label" RED WD80EMAZ 8TB 5400RPM 256MB 3.5" Hard Drive using the steps for mfstools in the 8TB Premiere thread. It worked perfectly. Thanks
