All data is now from Allt-epg, so any data queries are best asked/answered over on that forum (IMHO).
BUT If I refine my search and look for a title of "middle" and a genre of "comedy" Tivo does NOT find the shows!Actors Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Charlie Mcdermott, Eden Sher, Atticus Shaffer, Chord Overstreet
Genres Comedy, Sitcom
Channel 106 SKY1
Except that one must be very careful indeed about how one asks any questions over there since the usual response on most points is that this is only an alpha test and/or you are lucky to still have anything at all and that comments other than those which heap praise on the unpaid developer volunteers are usually not welcome. All data is now from Allt-epg, so any data queries are best asked/answered over on that forum (IMHO).
I see that the natural bossy headmaster or departmental manager in you is stlll alive and well then.We all know why you have to keep your mouth shut over at the AltEPG forums; I'm pleased that you've wound your neck in a bit in one forum at least.
Not directly. The same answer also explains your suggestions issue.
As you say it seems likely there is a link but in what fashion exactly. The issue that PhilG is having is (according to MrTickle) related to a limit on the number of genres which can be associated with a show compared to Tribune data. As Suggestions basically work from genres, seems likely that that would account for the changes you've seen in suggestion behaviour.
You seem to think it's acceptable to malign a bunch of hard working volunteers, and argue and criticise.I would post on these kind of topics on the AltEPG forum but I find them generally so hostile to any observation that sounds like criticism of the quality of their data that I am now reluctant to do so.
No-one knows exactly how the Suggestions algorithm works, so you won't ever get an exact answer. But genres are a major part of it, so if we know that the AltEPG genres are not only different in what they are but also in how they are attached to Showings, then that being linked to a change in Suggestion behaviour seems an obvious thing. As you say it seems likely there is a link but in what fashion exactly.
No it's not; you then went on to explain it. Sounds like the guide data was wrong in two ways; firstly it was not handling a split film very well. I can't now remember for a Tribune split film was handled now, as in general I'd rather stick pins in my eyes that watch the destruction of a film by ITV and its ads. Looks like both the first and second halves were set to have the same ID, so the wishlist only recorded one. It also sounds like it was not recognising the second showing on ITV1+1 as being the same film, so the wishlist also recorded the first half of that. This is very weird and hard to explain behaviour
I doubt that's true for anyone but you, but the thing would be to make sure that your question doesn't "sound like criticism", and doesn't sound like one of your stalking e-mails to the CEO of a large corporation. You're talking to a community of volunteers, not a customer service department.I would post on these kind of topics on the AltEPG forum but I find them generally so hostile to any observation that sounds like criticism of the quality of their data that I am now reluctant to do so.
Ummm. Isn't that why we use a Tivo to view stuff on ITV1 instead? That way nobody has to watch the news interrupting the film.I can't now remember for a Tribune split film was handled now, as in general I'd rather stick pins in my eyes that watch the destruction of a film by ITV and its ads.
My BOURNE wishlist actually recorded the first hour of the program on ITV1 and then on ITV1+1 an hour later. It didn't record the second half of the film after the news on either channel. I actually viewed it live on ITV 1+1 at my relative's house and by the time I got back home after a few days there and noticed the recordings the EPG data for that day had disappeared. To explain what happened I would tend to think there must have been an EPG error of some kind made by AltEPG. Both the ITV1 and ITV1+1 showings before the news had the same TMSID number allocated to them by the AltEPG when I checked that out as a possible reason.Looks like both the first and second halves were set to have the same ID, so the wishlist only recorded one. Isn't that what I said? TMSIDs are only used in AltEPG to let hacks work which use them; they don't represent an underlying unique identifier any more.My BOURNE wishlist actually recorded the first hour of the program on ITV1 and then on ITV1+1 an hour later. Highly, highly unlikely. Occam's razor suggests a straightforward EPG error.I think its also possible that the behaviour is associated with Title Wishlists under the AltEPG where the program in question is more than one hour long and shown on a main and +1 channel.
I suppose this would in turn be brought on by the confusion of the news break.Highly, highly unlikely. Occam's razor suggests a straightforward EPG error.
