Great episode, best of the series so far!

I gotta start out with a quote from the book. It's nothing you'll be sorry you read, I think. Regarding Arya when she stuck the stable boy with the pointy end.

In the book the stable boy says "oh gods, take it out". Now I didn't go back and look that up, but I'm pretty sure it's an exact quote. May not seem like so much in this post, but in context I thought it was very powerful when I read it. Shame it couldn't stay.

Again, great great episode. Sad there's only 2 left. :( Sadder still that we'll have to wait a year for the next season.

Who is the guy with the gray beard that wanted to take the van when Robb called the banners?

First episode I really liked. All the stories actually progressed and at a rapid pace. Good stuff.
What a fabulous episode. Felt bad for Arrya's dance instructor, but holding out hope that perhaps he killed all the guards and the knight? I can hope right!!

Robb has certainly grown into a lord! Loved the way he handled things but also the shot of his hand shaking and his reaction to seeing his mother were really great nuances.

Going to watch a 2nd time on HBOGO for the extras!
I hate sansa.
I hate sansa.
Why? She is obviouslyly not the brightest bulb but I don't think she was raised to be anything else but a trophy wife for a lord. She loves her father and is doing anything she can with limited abilities to save his life.
Arya would still have nymeria and Sansa herself would still have Lady of Sansa weren't such a dumb twit.

She is more to blame for events in the book than she is on the show. They skip over some of the things she did that contributed to Ned's imprisonment for lack of time.

She's so enamored of Jof, for no good reason, that she does dumb things.

how is it possible that every episode is better than the one before it?!

Varys is right, Ned is responsible for everything that has happened. He had to go tell the queen that she had until the end of the hunt to save herself and the children. What an idiot.

I thought Robb's plan was to make Tywin think he is attacking him and then go and attack Jaime. Instead, he just wanted him to think he had 2 thousand more men than he really had (?)

Not so sure about that. If Sansa had backed Arya's version of events the queen would have gone crazy and accused both of them of lying. That could have ended even more badly.

Greatjohn Umber, of House Umber. In the fingers scene he says something like, 'No Umber is going to follow a Glover into battle!'
I'm glad they didn't actually show the Septa getting killed, but hinted at it.

And though we don't see Syrio Forel getting killed by the Knight, we do see the Knight (he's a kingsguard member - Trant? Moore?) in the throne room scene.
I looked it up. The Kingsguard member who attacks Syrio is Ser Meryn Trant.
The Lannister knights and soldiers sport some cool looking armor.

Syrio, why didn't you pick up one of the fallen soldier's sword? Why, Syrio, why?

I think both Ned and his wife are pretty dumb. I fail to see any reason why Ned is still alive or why Joffrey doesn't just toss Sansa aside and pick another of the million young ladies who wouldn't mind being queen.

Those that watched the show only... don't know what really happen... does the book describe what happens after Ayria leaves? Does he lose/die?

Info related to fate of Syrio Forel

The book never says (as we see the incident from Arya's eyes, and she leaves while the battle takes place.

I think he doesn't pick up the broadswords because that isn't really his weapon. He fights with a different type of sword. Or maybe he finds no honor in it?

All of the chapters in the book are from the point of view of a particular character. This particular scene was from Arya's POV so what we saw on screen was pretty much like the book. As Arya left we were left to imagine the end both in the book and on screen.

and i'm still hoping he lives! yes , the evidence would say otherwise unfortunately -

i dug the way they handled the dead rangers coming back as well, and Sam continues to show that not everyone has to be a ranger to contribute.

man i love this show!!

This was one of my favorite chapters reading the book, and they certainly did it justice on screen. It was just so gratifying seeing him take care of all of the Lannister lackeys with a wooden sword.
I see no reason to assume Syrio did not win the fight. He didn't kill anyone, just knocked them out. The Lannister guard could have lost the fight to Syrio and woke up later to make it to the throne room.

I skipped the spoiler above. The knocked out guys were waking up, the leader was still there and Syrio only had half a stick left. Things didn't look too good for my man.

I skipped the spoiler as well.

So you're saying he can beat 5 men with swords using only a wooden stick but that he can't beat one man with half the stick? He has certainly demonstrated to me that he could easily do that. He didn't pick up their swords because he didn't need to.

Plus, he had already told death "not today" ;) :D
