Even though not strictly Tivo related, I thought I'd mention this since we occasionally see people asking about solutions for rooms without Coax.

There's finally a G.Hn wave 2 powerline product out from Comtrend. The very limited customer reviews I've seen have been pretty good, though I don't think anyone has done a proper review*

I'm going to wire my whole house for Ethernet this weekend. I've been using MoCa with RG6 cabling I pulled a few years ago, but it's been a bit un reliable and when I have a problem with my cable they're quick to blame the MoCa.

When I'm done I'm going to have a single run of coax from the box to the living room. I'll put the two TiVos, two tuning adapters and the cable modem in the living room. The rest of the house will have an ethernet port in every room and I'm using one of those new distributed wifi systems for wireless.

Good luck. I've always meant to do it, but never did. I did wire a room for HDMI over Cat-5 but decided not to use it.

Wow that was a LOT of work! Crawling around under my house and in my attic for 8 hours pulling the wire, then another couple the next day actually punching all the ports. But it's up and running and noticeably faster than my MoCa network.

I've been using Ethernet from the beginning. If you can do it I think it's the best way to go.
