I posted the same question on the D* website and was directed from the D* Website to this for help. My HR10 is frozen in "powering up" Is there anything I can do? I am guessing it is the hard drive. If it is the problem, can I rescue the shows already saved in the current HD?

Yep, most likely a dead hard drive. It's highly unlikely that you would be able to recover your existing recordings. Some folks have reported success with disk repair tools like SpinRite, so you could give that a try.
