Thought I would make a better description for the great sale I stumbled into earlier on a different thread. Order a New DT unit from Tivo's site with a contract and get the unit for free, plus it ships free, and best of all it qualifies for MSD

Are you sure that this deal qualifies for MSD? On the link that you posted, follow the link to the terms and conditions, and it states:

4. TiVo package subscription plans not eligible for Multi-Service Discount.

Am I missing something?

I did this too, I'm replacing my 40 hour, single tuner box.

I signed up for the Monthly 3-year plan. The new multi-service discount is "save $6". So the 3 year plan is 12.95 - 6.00 = 6.95/month that I was already paying, just now I'm under contract for 3 years.

On a side note:
I've heard some people talk about new FCC rules and the end of analog channels etc. I figure, worst case I can still use a cable box with the one tuner and sill doubled my storage space for free.
Same here. I have an older single-tuner model and the hard drive is going out (keeps freezing on me). I thought about dropping in a new hard drive then saw this offer. So I get a new, free, dual-tuner model for exactly the same price I had been paying.

I saw, too, that it said inelligible for multiple service discount, yet when I ordered it the order form automatically applied MSD and showed $12.95 - $6.00 MSD = $6.95/month.

Free shipping, to boot. How can you go wrong?

BS
After selecting a plan on the offer page and clicking through, you will be taken to the Tivo.com shopping cart.

At the top right of the cart, simply log in to your Tivo account to be shown the MSD rate.

You may have to correct the quantity as logging in seems to add one to the quantity.

You must also commit for 3 years to receive the lowest rate.
Hmm... the terms and conditions (which must be agreed to in order to place an order) clearly state that this is not eligible for MSD, yet the order screen clearly shows the discount. I wonder which takes precedent from a legal perspective? Are customers with more than X months of service grandfathered into being eligible for MSD?

I went ahead and ordered one at the MSD price, but it won't be surprised if this story is not over yet.

I purchased 2 of these, the first one was 16 the second was 10, and they shipped UPS in 2 days for the free shipping option. you definitely get a MSD. the boxes are very fast compared to a older 2.5 nightlight 5400....

There are other threads on this, but only over-the-air analog is going away in 2009. Cable cos. will still be allowed to transmit in analog.

Not only does the order screen show the discount, it states "(Eligible for MSD)" right above the "Free Ground Shipping details"
My new dual tuner arrived today and my billing shows the MSD monthly price of $6.95.

And I agree, the menues certainly seem snappier than my older single-tuner models. (But maybe that's because I don't have it loaded up with recorded shows, suggestions, Season Passes, Wish Lists, thumbs, etc. yet  )

I just ordered one for my daughter. Just like others on here, I did get the MSD on the monthly service.
The page is presently b0rked:

If this deal is dead, then it looks like the Amazon deal for the Dual Tuner + $100 Tivo Service Card + $5 Unbox Downloads for $100 is the best offer going.

Works out to same cost, except you have to pay your first $100 down.

Essentially you get the unit free, but prepay the $100 service.

Pretty sure it will qualify for MSD rate.

The original link is working again. I didn't check to see if anything changed.

I may have to jump on this one. I switched from a DirecTiVo to a DT S2 a few months ago. Now I want a second DT S2 for the bedroom to network.
Jump on it. Best deal for an DT I have seen. I hit the page clicked on 3 years service and logged in and was charged a total of 6.95 for the order with the DT out for delivery to me today by UPS

I had a DT that had just dropped out of bundle plan and is 16,95. I was going to move a month by month to it from my RS TX20 but then a surge hit my Cat5 and blew out the etehrnet and both USB ports. This unit will now repalce that one so basically I got my DT fixed for free with just the slight penalty of a 3 year contract. I am confident I can get 3 years use out of this unit. It is the only series 2 I have on a long term contract save for my 240 model that is lifetime but only 3 1/2 years into that lifetime so I missed the transfer lifetime deal.
