Fox Bumps The New Girl

Fox is playing a dangerous scheduling game with its biggest freshman hit The New Girl. She just moved into Foxs house, but already the network is taking a break.
Theyve pulled the original episodes of the Zooey Deschanel series from its lineup for the rest of October. Episodes previously scheduled for Oct. 11, Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 have been postponed; instead Fox will air extended two-hour episodes of The X Factor (because what we need more of is over-inflated reality shows).
It was previously announced that New Girl would be moved temporarily to Wednesdays during MLB playoffs but now those plans are off in favor of upping The X Factor.
That means fans of the breakout sitcom, which has averaged roughly 9 million viewers since its Sept. 20 debut, wont see a new New Girl episode until November 1.
Scheduling hiatuses tend to impact shows negatively, so lets hope all the viewers who fell for the New Girl remember her come November.

Or not, and the show totally tanks after being brought back, and Fox (and other networks) finally learn a valuable lesson.

How many people would have even found it on Wednesday night? They did the Tuesday/Wednesday switch with Raising Hope last week and the numbers were bad. They made the right move.
Aren't they pretty much bumping *everything* during playoffs? And don't they do this every year?

Yeah, last Wednesday they aired what would have been this week's Raising Hope. And actually, I watched it *before* I watched the episode that had aired the night before because I didn't realize I had two recordings. So their switching around the schedule caused me to watch the episodes out of order, not that Raising Hope has any real continuity. Not sure if there are MLB games scheduled for the next two Tuesdays, but based on previous seasons, FOX knows that ratings for all of its new shows will dip in October as many of their shows take a break during the playoffs, and those that do air don't get the normal amount of promotion during other similar programming. So if FOX is doing this to prevent a dip in New Girl's ratings and keeping a supply of new episodes to air at other times when they normally would have been reruns, I'm fine with that.
If they don't promo the heck out of show before it returns, then yeah BIH Fox. The show got great ratings for a new sitcom so unless its stupid exec time, there is no reason it shouldn't return for the long haul.

It is borderline at this point. If they keep on showing it, it might grow on me. If they stop, I will have little interest in re-starting it. Their loss.Well then you must not really like the show, thus proving the network correct.
I feel that way about episodic shows like The Event or Flash Forward or that one about people caught in a bank robbery. But a sitcom can be gone a few weeks and I won't have any problem picking up where we left off.Idiots. By the time it comes back, I will have lost all interest in it.
