Our LCD TV got jacked last week, someone broke into our house. We were racking our brain, trying to come up with a time when this could have happened since we were gone for most of the day.

Then, it came to me... The thieves didn't take our Series 3 TiVO, but they did have to unplug the TV (HDMI cable) from it. I took the HDD out, booted to one of those MFSTools live CDs and mounted the /var partition.

Sure enough, in the tvlog there was a log when the HDCP connection was lost. Later it turns out our neighbor saw a suspicious car at very close to the same time. The only annoying thing was that it looks like the TiVO uses UTC instead of the local timezone, so that did throw us for a second or two.

I have a screenshot, as well as the rest of our story at:

Check it out and let me know what you guys think. Also, if you have any tips for securing a house, namely a LCD TV let me know!

Awesome website - sorry about your stuff (thieves suck!) and good luck getting some resolution.
