Hi there, this has not been good for TiVo as the time has now come. I don’t think they are really doing anything anymore and it is probably time for me to get something else. My first ever one was found at Goodwill a few years ago and I loved it. Since then, I replaced that Series 1 with a Premiere and later, a Roamio. It has been a good run, but now I am probably going to be looking into alternatives. If you have any good suggestions, let me know.

The new Gemini Airs cost a fortune, but the older plain Gemini (C71KW-400) models are a steal for about $49 at Walmart. I got mine mostly because the Gemini Air doesn't support Ethernet and I prefer to keep my streamers hard-wired, but I love it. It has a really nice backlit remote too.

As I recall hearing it reported, some of the older boxes (still branded as AT&T?), that apparently were turned off and did not get updates for the long transition period from AT&T and DirecTV needed new firmware to be updated to connect to the newer DirecTV Stream site and to be updated and activated. The site that held that older firmware update for the transition was reportedly turned off at some point (by AT&T?). The reports also indicated that sometimes you could force a full reset (pushing the reset button, waiting for the splash screen, and pressing the reset button again, through 10 cycles to force an even deeper reset). As with all such reports, your mileage will vary, and caveat emptor regarding purchasing refurbished units.
