After yet another half day spent trying to get my Tivo to start up with sound, I've reluctantly decided to call it a day. I bought the box secondhand in 2006 and it has worked faithfully since then, surviving the move to digital and then the move to altepg.
What an amazing piece piece of kit. How many other consumer electronic devices are still going strong after 20 years of 24x8 usage? Not many, in my experience. And even to this day, its UI is still way better than Sky and Humax and any of the other boxes out there.
So, a BIG thanks to all those who supplied parts and the altepg service for my Tivo, as well as the experts who I leaned on, with hints and tips gleaned from various forums like this one.
A sad day, but so long and thanks for all the viewing.
