I'm still interested to see it (watching the NASCAR race live currently, so I'll catch Entourage later tonite).

Only Drama would leave a beautiful woman in his hotel room to go fight over his hotel room and then to top it off get kicked out of the hotel entirely. Ah well, at least it ended well.

Who wasn't surprised Medellin was a flop? Guess they should have listened to Eric a bit more. A now they're signed on to do another movie with Walsh. Wonder how that's going to go with the bad taste of Cannes in their mouthes.

I'm not surprised at the reaction to Medellin, but then again I would think it would be a bit more mixed than it was.

Big difference in offers though. Very big difference.

I think it will be interesting to see if Walsh actually lets Harvey's people edit the movie. My guess is that Harvey will turn it into a critical masterpiece and Vinny will be redeemed.

How ironic that the boys are on the beaches and party boats of Cannes, and the nudity we see in this episode was stateside at Nicky's pool.

(BTW I haven't seen a "this show should be an hour" post for a very long time.)
Odd, I thought all the episodes were an hour this season.

This season is what I expected of this show when I first heard about it prior to season 1. Entourage had something the first two years that made the Hollywood smarminess watch-able. Whatever 'it' was that Entourage had is now gone.

I really disliked this episode, and this whole story arc actually. Who really thought this was going to be the best movie ever? No way! No conflict in the show = no show. It was destined to fail.

Harvey might want to re-do this film solely because he sees the great art in it. But it sure seems to me that he'd rather see it wither and die just to spite them. And why would they sell it to him for zero dollars? Surely someone else might be willing to pick it up and spend a few million bucks to re-edit it?

Overall though -- weak season. It had some great moments (furry sex anyone?) but mostly, blech.

Unstated is that the back side of the contract either pays them out of theatre proceeds for the production costs first then a percentage of further income, or some similar arrangement. So what they're "negotiating" is the up-front payment to distribute the film.

If Harvey buys the movie for $1, even with that stated, he has no motivation to do anything other than shelve it, unless he really thinks he can make some money on it.

I'm sure no matter how bad it is, one could Mystery-Science-Theater-3000 it and make enough money to warrant distribution.

This was probably written around the Cannes reaction to either "The Da Vinci Code" or "Marie Antoinette." Quoting CNN on the former:

At Cannes, one scene during the film, meant to be serious, elicited prolonged laughter from the audience, and when the credits rolled, there was no applause, only a few catcalls and hisses.
"The Da Vinci Code" ended up grossing $200+ million in the US, $500+ million overseas.
