On 5/20/2020 I sent an email to Tivo outlining my problem with my brand new Edge unit. Previously I had 2 Roamio's working in my bedroom without one unit inter fearing with the other. For some reason my newest Roamio, 3 years old, decided to stop working. It was a problem but considering the situation we all find ourselves in it wasn't a big deal. I figured I'd just order another Tivo unit only to find that Tivo was no longer selling the Roamio. Again no big deal. I ordered an Edge. On setting it up the first thing I noticed was that the new Tivo programming sucked compared to the Roamio. The second thing I found out was that the Edge remote had a real problem working with another Tivo unit in the same room. No matter what buttons I pushed on my Roamio remote it automatically switched over to the Edge. With the Edge hooked up I could not use the Roamio. I know I seem to be rambling here but I really don't know how else to describe my problem
I have decided that since Tivo decided to ignore my problem and I can't figure out on my own how to set it up where I can make use out of both units I have decided to return the Edge and cancell my service on my Roamio. I will have to find another company that takes customer service seriously and fits my needs.

You would most likely have TE3/v20.7 on the Roamio and the Edge has to run TE4/v21.x. Unfortunately, you cannot convert the Edge to run on TE3/v20.

What issues were you having with the Roamio? Either its the hard drive or the power supply, and either is pretty easy to fix, just replace it.
The cost would have been less than for the new Edge minus subscription.

Tivo CS would be of no help in replacing parts, only for a whole new or refurbished unit.

Tivo CS leaves a lot to be desired. It will be hard to find another company/unit that does what a Tivo does though, especially DVR wise. Your remote problem, not that hard to solve. Both use RF (the yellow light on the remote lights up). When setting up a new unit they can get screwed up, one remote might end up controlling both Tivos if you have two. You have to set them up separately, power off one while setting up the other remote. Might have to reset both at this point, from the menu remote section (read instructions carefully). Once you get one setup unplug that Tivo, set aside the remote, plug in the other and proceed from the remote setup menu. When done plug the other Tivo back in, everything should be fine if you followed the instructions. While the remotes are being setup individually (ie one Tivo plugged in, the other unplugged) you can also set the IR mode number on each Tivo (the red light lights on the remote). Each Tivo can be set for a different IR number, 0-9. Don't use 0, that is universal, choose a different number for each Tivo, say 3 for one, 7 for the other, any numbers except 0 and different number for each Tivo.

Yep, as ThAbtO mentioned the other Roamio might be an easy fix. Probably drive or power supply. If you have the 4 tuner Roamios with external power supply/AC adapter first thing to try would be to try the AC from the working unit on the malfunctioning unit. If you don't have the external power Roamios easiest thing to try would be to swap in a hard drive. Roamio will format it if 3TB and under. Any CMR drive will do for a test, size does not matter as long as 3TB or under. Make sure it is blank.

No actually you didn't. You told me that they wouldn't work together, which isn't what I was asking, and how customer service did not replace parts, which also I hadn't asked for. I wanted to know how to make each individual remote control work the unit they were meant to work with instead of having the Roamio remote automatically switch my t.v. to the Edge unit whenever I pressed any button on it. In no way did you address the problem of whether the Edge and the Roamio units could work individually in the same room.

tommage1 did provide you with the answer on how to set up two DVRs in the same room with separate remotes:

"Your remote problem, not that hard to solve. Both use RF (the yellow light on the remote lights up). I don't know what you were reading, I told you exactly how to make it work (ie pair the remotes). Maybe you read someone else's post, certainly not mine.

I thank you both for your help. Tivo still hasn't replied to the question I asked them on their website. I have decided to return the Edge and try to find an alternative to Tivo. For years I dealt with Tivo with no problems whatsoever but recently there seems to be no end to the problems. The fault may be mine and not Tivos but the problems still are there no matter whose fault it is.
Again I thank you both.

before looking for alternatives, you should consider troubleshooting your failed Roamio per ThAbtO's suggestion:

What issues were you having with the Roamio? Either its the hard drive or the power supply, and either is pretty easy to fix, just replace it.

It's more the way Tivo has decided to do business then it is the problems with the Roamio. I could probably have the old unit repaired but I still wouldn't want to continue to work with a company that didn't value my loyalty at all.
