Easiest way to search for HD movies to record?

856 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  bonscott87
With my HR10 I can easily Search by channel number and see all movies for the next 2 weeks. Or I can Search by Title and then filter it by high definition.

Is there any easy way to search for HD movies on the HR20? I see Search by Title, but no HD filter. That would mean searching thru ALL shows for the next 2 weeks. And I don't see a way to Search by Channel number by typing in a particular number.

With my HR10 I would go thru the list every couple weeks to set up movies to record and it was pretty easy. Am I missing an easy way to do this with the HR20?

Thanks

You can go to the guide and filter by HD (hit the guide button twice if the filter isn't default), that's about the closest I know to get what you're looking for.
Try bringing up the guide and select the channel you want to check. Then left arrow and then hit INFO.

I'm thinking I tried this last night, but when I pressed Info it didn't bring up an Upcoming Shows screen or anything similiar.

I'll double check that when I get home tonight, though.

Be sure to left arrow all the way until the channel name is highlighted then press "info".

I thought I did this, but I will try again.

If this does works, then I guess an easy way to search the few channels that only show HD movies would be to set up a Favorites list to include only those channels, and then search each one individually? That wouldn't be too bad.

Correct. Guide, go to the channel in question (Starz HD for example), left arrow to highlight the channel number, press info. In a couple seconds it will load up the entire guide data for that channel. With one touch record you could setup a dozen movies to record for the next 2 weeks in about a minute or less.

Rinse and repeat with any other movie channels you'd like. I do this pretty much every week during half time of football. Takes me maybe 5 or so minutes to buzz thru most of the HD movie channels and setup lots of movies to record (if there is anything good of course).

I personally have a custom favorite list that is just HD channels I care about. Makes it easier to surf thru all the HD and do this. And I'm finding this more and more my default channel list since there isn't much left in SD that we watch.
