DVRBARS runs but not with dirve attached

DVRBARS will open and run on my pc just fine when the tivo drive is not attached. When I attach the drive with a usb to sata cable and restart dvrbars, get the spinning circle and then it quits. What am I doing wrong here?

I would try a different USB to SATA adapter.

You may be right. The one I have, I used to set up an SSD. I may not be adequate. Thanks
