Starting about a month ago, the DVR will shut off and reboot while watching Live TV or a recorded program, up to several times a day. Programs are still being recorded (season pass, etc). It is extremely frustrating when the system shuts off in the middle of a show and takes 5-7 minutes to power back up! What could be causing this??

That's a pretty typical symptom of a disk drive failing. It's hitting some bad data on a sector and not able to recover - whether the data is in one of the databases or the filesystem. If the bad sector were strictly one of video data, the symptom is blockiness in the picture - unless it's real bad, then it becomes real garbage and reboots also. Time to make sure you visit the Upgrade Center forum, learn how to make a good backup of the software on your disk, and create a new one with software referenced there. Good luck and have fun.

It's the 6.3 software....sit tight and deal with it, Directv will be forced to address it soon.
