Dubbing from S3 to tape or DVD

We just got a S3HD unit (our 1st Tivo). Still using in basic mode until we upgrade other components. Would one of you old time experts out there please explain the proper way to hook up either a tape or DVD unit for dubbing off the S3HD and how do accomplish this task? Sorry for the simplistic question, but when you're new, you're new. Many thanks.

All you need to do is connect some of the unused video and audio jacks on the back of the Tivo to the corresponding input jacks on the dvd or vcr.

Use the "save to vcr function". Start recording, then start the Tivo playing.
