I have a Dtivo and I'm wanting to hook it up. Do I have to run a second cable for the second tuner, or would a splitter do the trick? Also, If I want to hook up a stand alone tivo on the same tv, would I then need a third cable?

A splitter won't work. See the Multiswitch FAQ at the top of this section for reasons why. Run a new cable.

If you want a stand alone Tivo as well, then you need a regular D* receiver to feed that Tivo and you will need a third cable from the dish/switch.
