I have a Phillips DSR 704 ( firmware 3.1.1c-01-2-301).

Can I record to DVD by telling it to save to VCR ?

What is a good DVD Recorder for this unit ?

Yes. Hook it up with SVideo and record as you would to a VCR. Any model recorder will work as well with the DTivo. If you want to edit out commercials, get one with a hard drive built in.
