I've never seen it stated, but I'm pretty sure it's 2.0. However, that only states the maximum theoretical speed. Actual data transfer is nowhere near that speed, in fact the ethernet devices don't even make use of 10 MBPS speed.

Only the old S2 boxes that have TSNs starting with 1 (like the 140) have USB 1.1 ports. Everything else is USB 2.0.

I have contacted humax and tivo on this issue. The equipment is USB2.0 but the tivo software will only support 1.1

That's incorrect. It *was* correct WAY, WAY back in the 5.x software days. But 7.x introduced USB2.0 drivers.

I have a HUMAX DTR800. Can I upgrade the USB from 1.1 to 2.0, and are there any step by step instructions to do this?

You don't have to upgrade ... the DRT800 has USB 2.0 ports.

Please help me to understand this:

Why does it take me 4 hours to transfer 6 gigs of media? Shouldn’t it take less time? I have a Linksys USB network adapter (USB200M) connected to my unit; it indicates it's running at 100Mbps. It's connected to a Netgear router (WGR614) which shows the connection to the Tivo as 100Mbps and the connection to my computer is also at 100Mbps, but when I check my network speed during transfers from my Tivo it's only utilizing 4 percent of the networks capability. I don't expect 100% utilization, but 4??? I can transfer the same 6 GB file over my home network to another computer & get over 50% which only takes 20 minutes. There's a slowdown somewhere and the only thing I can figure is that it's the Tivo.

Well, I can't really explain it, but that's not unusual for the TiVo. Unit to unit transfers can happen in just better than real time in "high quality" but can't keep up in best. All I can say is that the processor has to handle the transfers and after handling a record and a playback stream, it doesn't have much reserves left. That's what makes the DVD units so great. You can burn 4.7GB to DVD-R in 20 minutes or so, which is much faster than any transfer.

The DVD units have the slowest CPUs of any of the S2 models ... combine that with the fact that when you're using TiVoToGo, the TiVo has to mux the audio and video streams together while it's transferring and you end up with slow transfer rates.

There are little things you can do to speed up transfers: tune to a channel with no signal, or pause Live TV for example. Things like that free up the CPU to concentrate on the transfer process.
