He's always preached (at least in the modern incarnations) that certain events in history are fixed, and must happen no matter what. (Pompeii, etc...)

There are also things worse than Hitler. The statue angels come to instant mind, the Cybermen, some of the other horrid aliens. Humanity could handle Hitler even if he had won WW II. But those icky aliens.....
Wasn't there an episode where he had the chance to kill Davros, but didn't because he realized that if he did, a number of races who were allied solely because of their hatred of the Daleks would turn on each other? I assume something similar would be used to explain why he would save Hitler.

(Then again, hasn't DW had at least two different explanations as to what caused the Big Bang?)
Is there a rule about spoilers in thread titles?

Well, THAT takes me back a LONG ways. It was one of the first episodes of DW that I had ever seen, and that is likely the only reason I remember it. It was also among Tom Baker's first episodes (his fourth series of stories). "Genesis of the Daleks" It aired in six weekly half hour parts from 8 March to 12 April 1975. It marks the first appearance of Davros, the creator of the Daleks.

TWO? I think there were more than two, and they were completely inconsistent with each other. There were at least four explanations for the lost city of Atlantis, all mutually inconsistent. Each story was sort of stand-alone, so don't get bogged down with trivia. I *THINK* I remember a reference to the big bang in "Terminus," but that goes way back and my memory of the Peter Davison era is pretty vague.

I don't know-- from what we see in the trailor for all we know they just saved somebody unknown in a locked room. When they finally get in, they find it was Hitler and he says "Thank you-- I think you just saved my life", much to their surprise.

Hard to read much into what is shown.
