Russell Davies is returning to Doctor Who as the showrunner. (Yay, I think)
If he brings the energy of that original year's re-creation you'll be thinking Yay correctly.

I haven't watched the show for probably 10-12 years (except to tune one in now & then to take the patient's temperature) but this will get me to take a look at least for awhile, when it happens.

I dont know.. After "Miracle Day" (Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood season 4) that he ran I can't find my enthusiasm for his return.. It's like Chris Carter returning to the X-Files and realizing his best storytelling was decades ago and the current content he was making was lackluster, uninspiring, & plainly not good. He gets my applause for his reboot of the series in 2005, but I don't think I have seen anything of his since Miracle Day so I'll try it out but I can't be hyped about this at all.

Yeah, I was really disappointed by Miracle Day, too.

RTD was a great showrunner, when he had great writers like Moffat and others writing for him. Some of the best episodes of the New Who era were from that model. RTD's own stories weren't as good, and Moffat as as showrunner wasn't as good. Hopefully we can return to the model of great writers writing great stories for RTD to produce.
