Do you loose multi-service discount when you no longer have multiple Tivos?

The question in the title of this thread may sound strange, but I just got off the phone with Tivo customer service and her answer was no.

Can anyone confirm this?

Background:
I have a S1 Tivo that I bought used in 2002 and have had it on a monthly plan ($12.95/month) ever since. It has started to act a little funny so I purchased a used S2 Tivo. I activated the S2 just under 30 days ago with a monthly multi-service price. I asked the Customer Service rep. if the S1 dies what happens to the monthly price of my S2 when I cancel the S1. Her response was that they have no way to increase my monthly price on the S2, and I would continue to pay the 10.95/month.

My concern is that this just does not sound correct. If the price of the S2 is going to increase to 16.95/month for a monthly 1-yr contract, then I want to cancel the current subscription on the S2 and transfer its service number to the S1.

If others have had experienced with keeping their multi-service discount without having multiple services then I will not worry about it and let the S1 limp along (90% of the time it works fine).

Anyones experience would be appreciated.

Yeah, and you answered the question with your post?

It was a typo, move on.

I don't have multiple standalone Tivo's so my question is "Would you still want to pay AFTER you take a unit out of service? Couldn't you simple add an unsubscribed unit later and get the MSD?

Yes, I realize there is a spellcheck button, but it doesn't catch words that are spelled correctly, but misused!
Yeah. I was rattling his/her chain. I do think you would lose the MSD. Problem is, I can't relate my personal experience with the OP. I'm on the old pricing structure. I have a lifetime subbed S2 and I recently replaced my old S1 on a monthly $7 with a used S2 and the CSR let me just transfer the unit. It doesn't seem that I'll be locked into any yearly contract. The website ordering doesn't allow this, and I expect that not all CSRs would be consistant.
According to the MSD terms of service, you have to have at least one other qualifying unit in order to get the MSD (a qualifying unit being one either with Lifetime, or paying full price, $12.95 or higher), and that qualifying unit, particularly if it's a Lifetime unit, has to call in at least once every 6 months.

If I were you, I wouldn't take the chance, because even if it somehow stayed at the MSD price, which it shouldn't per the terms, it could at any time in the future be increased to the full price at the then monthly rate.

I'd say to do as you suggested, and that is to cancel the S2, if it's not under contract, and then just replace the TSN of your S1 with the S2. It's only $2 more than what you're paying now for the S2.

However, you might want to double-check whether the S2 is under contract or not since you just activated it 30 days ago, as it should require at least a 1-year commitment. But if it hasn't been 30 days yet, then you can still cancel it under the 30-day guarantee.

I know, I was just picking on you. :D

As you are not the OP, you don't know that. Not all mis-spelled words or incorrect usages are typos. Sometimes words are mis-used by people who just don't know any better.

The OP's best bet is to cancel the S2 as long as it's been under 30 days and then change the service number on the other sub to the S2 number (using 'manage my account' at tivo.com - don't have one? create one) as mchips has already stated. It is very unlikely that the S2 wouldn't automatically increase to the $16.95/mo rate.
I wish more boards had people who offered no insight and only replied to correct the spelling of posts. Wait, was that sentence written properly? Please let someone reply telling me that I used proper grammar and spellinz!
I did answer the question. "Lose not loose" was a double entendre. I was agreeing that he would indeed(in my estimation anyway) lose the MSD, and correcting the speeling misteak. I guess it wasn't obvious....

Yes. You was writing that very correctly.
