I already have this Hard Drive, so I'm hoping it'll work fine in the Tivo Roamio.

I got a WD Red label, model WD10EFRX.

It's 1TB, I know I could go larger, but it's the HDD I have right now.

some more info from the label:
Made in Thailand. November 2018.
NASware 3.0 (probably doesn't apply to Tivo right, or is it bad Tivo?)

I think it's the right drive, but I still can't find any info online if it's CMR or SMR.
But I think it's before SMR became a problem. I think.

Thanks Everybody.

Thanks.

one more question:

while doing my research, I was reading some posts from about 10 years ago discussing 2 settings to change:

intellipark (WD Drives)
and
AAM acoustic settings

do thsese apply anymore, or were these for Hard Drives that came before the RED drives??

Thanks.

It was a "great " move by Western Digital trying to change the guts of a dependable HDD that they were selling for YEARS from CMR to SMR while leaving the name the same. Years, possibly decades, of referrals to "Buy the Western Digital Red" all became invalid because the "Red" became the unwanted SMR and the new "Red Plus" became the old, highly-desirable CMR with yet a third and different part number . I have over a dozen WDx0EFRX HDDs, 3TB and 4TB. @mlippert told me that they're 'gold'. :D

Be sure to run the full suite of Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics on the drive *BEFORE* you install it in your TiVo unit for years of trouble-free operation. My recent guidance on 'preparing a HDD for a TiVo' in another thread:

Does not apply to NAS drives.
