OK, I have two Tivo boxes.

The best of my memory is that one is a series 2 that I had to send to DVR Upgrade when the hard drive failed and it was upgraded to 200ish ours.

The other one is the first generation digital, Series 3????

Both have lifetime service

I had them both running when we were in South Carolina with cable TV. Now we are up in th mountains with DirectTV and very poor internet.....

So, what do I do with these things?? It's been a couple of years they are just in the boxes.

Would anyone want them? If someone could use them I would hate to recycle them.

Connect them to tivo service asap. They may well have future value for upgrading so long as they have connected and work.

Even with that, they would need to be recycled as the upgrade just removes the lifetime service.

They still show lifetime and active on my account.

If someone want's them for upgrading, we can work that out also. I have no need for them.

TiVo has run a special, every now-and-again, for older, Lifetimed boxes that have connected up to the TiVo mothership in the past year: buy a new TiVo box direct from TiVo and for $99, it'll transfer the Lifetime to the new box. A great deal, and gives the older boxes that aren't really being used value.

Just a caution for anyone who tries to use those old boxes - DO NOT RUN GUIDED SETUP until the box has been connected to service long enough to update the software to current Rovi release. If they still have old TiVo software from 2016, they will get stuck in a GS loop.

Give me a zip code and I'll get a shipping quote when I go into town later today. I get all my mail at a UPS store, so they should be able to figure it out for me. If I don't hear from you I'll just use a Wilmington zip code for a price quote.

I just pulled the boxes out and I have the 2 Tivo's, 3 peanut remotes and a wireless G adaptor.

I'd connect them and update them myself, but you can't believe how horrid our internet is in the mountains. I'm about 7 miles outside Franklin, NC now and have very slow DSL......

They keep talking about putting in fiber but it's not hapening quickly.

I just noticed, as an example of the internet here---

I upgraded a Garmin GPS yesterday. It too 19 hours do download the firmware and map data

Sigh.....
