Try setting the TiVo to output to a FIXED 720p or 1081i format and see if this solves your problem.
Why did you give up HDMI?Always used HDMI on my Tivo HD. had to switch to component.
What I noticed over component is that occasionally (say 3-6 times over one hour) there seems to be break in signal on component for fraction of a second.
This is always repeatable, if I rewind and replay, the 'flicker' always repeats the same location. Most often it happens when there is a cut from one scene to the other (as in start of ads). It is not too obvious but once pointed out, we will easily notice. I never saw this on HDMI.
TV is a 50in Panasonic plasma. Same behavior on 720p or 1080i. I haven't tried rebooting yet.

long story. My TV has just 2 HDMI ports. I have an HDMI switch, but it does not work well with some devices. Between Tivo HD and Apple TV I can connect only one of them on on HDMI. there is only one optionWhy did you give up HDMI?
Before I fight my way through 2 million Google pages about felines on television, what's a CAT feature?Try turning off the CAT feature. This changes the brightness of your set based on the ambient brightness of the room. Some people have noticed that this feature can go bad and have resorted to placing tape over the sensor on some models.
....umm, isn't it this (third post before yours)? Before I fight my way through 2 million Google pages about felines on television, what's a CAT feature?
