Tivo's Cyber Monday sale is so disappointing. It's $499.99 for two "renewed" boxes, the 500GB Bolt VOX and Mini VOX, with the all in service plan.

While having that all in plan is great, they're used boxes. Maybe this works for someone else. I just prefer not to buy used electronics.

For whatever it's worth, my experience with TiVo renewed has been what seemed to be a brand new TiVo box, and which hasn't given me any issue in 3 years, now. (My suspicion long has been that manufacturers sometimes will sell a product as a refurb. even when new, so as not to cannibalize the main selling channel.)

If one can get beyond that aspect here, this package deal is a nice one, especially for someone wanting a cable TiVo box.

I would have jumped on this deal if not for TiVo+ and all the TiVo-inserted ads (guide, preroll). I have a Premiere/Stream/Mini and earlier this year I was thinking about upgrading to a unit that supports OTA. Not any more.

My 2 Roamio's were refurbs from Tivo & my Roamio Pro was used from ebay, all of them over 3 years ago & I haven't had problems with any of them. However, when I got the 2 Roamio's, I DID replace the 500gb drives with (new) 2TB ones...so technically, the important part of those units are brand new. ;)
If I really needed new Tivo boxes, I would go for these, as it is a good deal.

Quick question - can someone refresh my memory & tell us if these (black) units CAN be downgraded to TE3???

Yep--it's the specifically-denominated Bolt OTA that can't be sidegraded to TE3 (as well as the Edge platform).

The short answer: sidegrading to TE3, which hasn't been "infected" with the TiVo ad bugs and TiVo+ (and which, when this was inquired about a few months back, was not slated (at least, as of then) to be).

I like my Roamio OTA that I got on BF a few years ago for $200 with Lifetime. The regular Bolt would be a downgrade for me tuner wise, but I see no reason to get anything newer. All my streaming is on Roku anyway.

Nothing on the WiFi 5 and Amazon still is out of stock.
I guess that WeaKnees currently has a lock on it (along with TiVo itself)? But at least, one can purchase from WeaKnees via Amazon.com.

Having said that, a half-price BF/CM intro. of the adapter would have been way cool and a nifty buzz generator. And would it really have cost TiVo that much, for the publicity and goodwill? And it might even have brought in some more Mini VOX sales.

Hey, it raises the re-sale value of my TE3 boxes. :p (Really, though: it saddens me. If only TE4 had not jettisoned the few remaining features that so many of us rely on. I would be there in a minute. (Well, wait, I forgot: there's the ads factor.))
I have TiVo to avoid the commercials!

So sad to add them back!

And I like the transfer to PC to TiVo and again.

Glad they had an all-in sale since I currently have all-in. But I was looking to possibly upgrade to more tuners. Btw I bought my bolt renewed in bf sale 3 years ago. The first delivery was a dud, but I haven’t had any problems since then.

That's funny, because it sounded like a pretty good deal to me.. I just don't want another "only" 4 tuner device, and don't want to be forced into the new UI.

(I've vaguely been interested in getting a Tivo Stream to use even though I have 2 Tivos.. I didn't actually buy a big TV like I keep saying I will, but will keep watching prices until xmas... it's not a price thing, more a laziness thing... but I want to still be able to use QuickMode & SkipMode on the "other" TV.. so I presume I would with a tivo stream, instead of e.g. using the Premiere 4, which can do skip mode but not quick mode..)

I've put larger capacity drives in my Tivos anyway, which, I think, kind of mitigates the used factor, since the drive seems to be the cause of failure most of the time.

I agree, I wish they would have offered a compelling deal to existing lifetime subscribers, it would have made customer base happy and put money in TiVo's pocket.
I actually tried to call and ask if they were offering any other promotions for existing subscribers. No joy.

I ended up getting the holiday deal anyway since I've been meaning to get a Mini, and the total bundle costs less than trying to add lifetime to my spare Bolt.
