That is absolutely positively not fair to leave us without getting to hear who is probably Dutch's child.

I was out on this show at the beginning of the season just because of the name, but it may be my favorite new show now.
I knew they wouldn't return to the DNA results when they cut to commercial.

I'm glad I got in from the beginning on this series. It's really growing on my wife & I. Could be our favorite new show.

Great HD PQ, too.
This episode was really amazing; the Darlings are just so completely out of control it's such fun watching them just live.

I love how the Brian / illegitimate child / wife is playing out; and the latest little jab at outing their relationship to his wife was quite amusing, too. And just in general, Brian as a priest is just really turning out very funny considering how he is around his family.

The twins are fun in a creepy way, and Jeremy's just the kind of eye candy that makes me not care how creepy it gets.

Karen's a bit more out there than I'd like. Somehow I'd like Lisa and Karen to be a little more civil to each other than how things were left this episode. I really enjoyed the dynamic at the restaurant table in Italy between them, but it went one notch too far for comfort.

And Patrick with political aspirations and a transsexual mistress is simply genius; William Baldwin plays the part wonderfully.

I had been feeling a little sympathetic toward Karen. Then Lisa threw down the gauntlet, Karen's fiance asked who had been at the door, and Karen gets That Look in her eyes and said, "Nobody." Cold, flat, and mean.

I bet she's Dutch's daughter -- and Nick's half-sister. And if she knew, she probably wouldn't care! Wouldn't that be a kick?

As far as I'm concerned, though, Lisa is HOT. I'd never give Karen a second glance.

That's exactly what I figured. Not that she wouldn't care though - even I don't think she'd be that creepy.

Can someone in the know explain how Brian can be a priest and have a family? Aren't they supposed to take a vow of abstinence (and poverty, for that matter)?

Well, obviously he's married so he's not a catholic priest. He must be a protestant minister of some sort or the like. They can get married, have kids, etc.
I think they're Episcopalian.

At least we now know why he wound up in the clergy.
I kept watching because for some reason it pulled me in. But I don't care about anyone--not one single person--on this show, and I find these people and the, uh, story line, creepy and repulsive. I feel dirty but not sexy from watching it. Bleccchhh.
This show has definitely improved over the weeks. I think the more they de-emphasize the children, the better things will be.
I'm really enjoying this show - I'd count it among my favorites for the new season. I love seeing all the familial dysfunction, and there's still a soft place in my heart for Peter Krause since Six Feet Under.

Having said that, there were two quick scenes in this episode that were a bit jarring, to me - they just didn't seem to fit well with the style of the show. The first was the cheesy stop-motion toy plane traveling over the map, to show the progress of the trip to Italy. The second was the scene with the girl bully, with "Gustav" running into the camera, screaming. They weren't bad scenes, they just didn't seem to fit with the style of the show to me.

At the start of the season I had a real hate on for Brian, but as I see more of his character, not that I like him, but I do understand him better.

I love the bit at the school where he blackmailed his dad, his dad calls him on it, and he says, "You told me to find the weakness."

Pure Darling, perfect, loved it.
When Nick reached out to his wife and put his hand on her when she was wearing her lingerie, all I was thinking was that he put his hand too high up :)

His wife is far superior to the Darling he proposed to in pretty much every way imaginable :)

I think Brian is Dutch's son, and Nick's brother. That would tie into all the bitterness and hatred Brian had toward Nick in the pilot.

Although, Karen being Nick's brother would be great and creepy too. ;)
Karen and Nick as siblings would be no less creepy than the twins.

+1 on Petty Officer Coates being hotter than any of the Darling women. I've loved Zoe McLellan since JAG.

The acting on this show is stellar, but the Brian character is even more perfectly played than the rest. I thought it was Nicky Katt 'til I just went to look it up. I've never heard of Glenn Fitzgerald.

The scenes between Nick and Tripp Darling are spectacular.
I am going to agree with you. For the most part the actors on this show do a really good job, and I think that raises this show above what it might have been. Some real believability breathed into a lot of the storylines just through the acting alone.

I started watching SFU because I liked him from Sports Night. And he's one reason I started watching DSM

Karen or Brian being Nick's brother are the only two that would add to the story. None of the others would really affect it much. And either way they go between those two will be fun!

Wow, I couldn't figure out where I knew Zoe McLellan from! Thanks!

And yes, she is the hottest woman on the show, no question about it!

I definitely see a resemblance between Glenn Fitzgerald and Nicky Katt.
